The artist and her art
The artist hails from Switzerland. She has been living abroad in different countries for over two decades. This 'nomadic' lifestyle of getting to know a city and all it has to offer, its people, its culture, its climate, the time to adjust and settle down, influence her decisions on how and what to create.
Depending on where she resides and what is available for artists, she usually takes on art classes and explores new concepts such as ceramics, mosaics, folk art, stained glass, jewelry, paper-cutting, collage, oil painting, life drawing, to name a few. Nevertheless, her preferred tools for creating art still remain paper, pen, colored pencils, pastels, charcoal, and occasionally brushes and acrylic paint.
Fashion, textures, pattern, fabrics, everyday objects, forms, shapes, structures, lines, landscape, city-scapes, buildings, the sky, the clouds, the sea, negative spaces and bold colors are all sources of interest.
She takes a lot of pictures when in nature, in the city or when traveling. Those photographs might be used as inspiration and reference as a starting point for a new drawing or painting, and inform her work.
She likes to explore different artistic approaches and tends to either work on portraits, landscapes or abstract compositions.
